In the WB sitcom Off Centre, Grieco is idolized by Chau Presley, a character played by John Cho.In the show, Chau met Grieco at a Department of Motor Vehicles and traded him an Oingo Boingo shirt for the one he was wearing.
He began appearing in Hollywood films in the mid-1970s.
Originally cast in a starring role in The Lords of Flatbush (1974), he was replaced after fighting with another star of the film, Sylvester Stallone.
Grieco rarely allows obstacles or difficulties to keep him down, for no matter how bleak the past or present, Richard always expects a better, brighter future.
In fact, he is uncomfortable with his own or other people's problems and emotional pain.
He went on to star in many well-received films, including An Officer and a Gentleman (1982), The Cotton Club (1984), Pretty Woman (1990), Primal Fear (1996), Runaway Bride (1999), I'm Not There (2007), Arbitrage (2012) and Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer (2016).
For portraying Billy Flynn in the Academy Award-winning musical Chicago (2002), he won a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the cast. But while Grieco’s full-time job now involves holding a sponge instead of a script, he still hopes to make an appearance in the highly-anticipated sequel to last year’s Channing Tatum/Jonah Hill-starring “21 Jump Street” film reboot.“I think Booker is an important character,” he said.Open and generous, Richard Grieco enjoys a wide circle of friends and acquaintances and he thrives on sociability and fellowship. He is adventurous, playful, freedom loving, and always ready for a good time. For Richard Grieco to be happy, his mate must be his best friend and encourage Richard's aspirations and ideals.
