The Employer One survey is still available for completion by area employers and measures local hiring practices, skills in demand and labour market shortages.In 2014, more than 2,800 businesses participated with 1,078 (38%) surveys fully completed.
The Employer One survey, an Employment Ontario project funded by the Ontario government, highlights net new job creation in Cornwall, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and provides some important data: "Job creation contributes to our income per capita and people’s ability to purchase goods and services," said Diane Soucie, Senior Project Officer at the Eastern Ontario Training Board.
"These results show that the Cornwall/SD and G region has a dynamic economy with a population that is ready, willing and able to find work and become successful." The greatest level of job creation took place in occupations related to Trades, Transport and Equipment Operators; Sales and Service; and Manufacturing.
